Statoil Carries Out Biggest Installation Offshore Norway

Statoil’s Valemon development project in the Norwegian North Sea has taken a big step forward with the delivery and installation of its 9,000-ton steel jacket this week. On Tuesday, the Norwegian oil major confirmed that the operation to install the jacket was carried out as planned and that the project remains on schedule.

Statoil Makes Tanzania Discovery

Norwegian operator Statoil has made a new gas discovery in the Lavani well on Block 2, off the coast of Tanzania.
Statoil said the well had intersected 95 metres of excellent quality reservoir sandstone with high porosity and high permeability, adding logging results confirmed the discovery which has a preliminary resource estimate of 3 trillion cubic feet of gas in place.

Statoil to Pay a Former Consultant Millions

A former consultant to Statoil in Nigeria has won a legal case that gives him the right to 1.5% of the Norwegian state oil company’s profit from its interest in the Agbami field off the West African country, according to reports.
Ex-advisor and medical doctor John Abebe – once dubbed ‘Mr Statoil’ – has been pursuing a legal claim that Statoil had agreed to pay him the share of profits for helping the company to secure lucrative blocks in the 1990s.
